  • Pray especially for those transitioning from High School into college for the first time, or into trade school or careers. Pray for God to mold and shape them, drawing them close to Him, and that He would provide strength and all they need for the new world they are entering.
  • Pray for those in Graduate School and for those in Medical Residencies and other advanced studies that they would have strength, perseverance, diligence, and grace as they often put in long hours.

CEF – “CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP”

CEF is a Bible-centered organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys & girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and to establish (disciple) them in the Word of God and the local church for Christian living.

There are over 105,500 children between the ages of 5-14 who live in Delaware County. Delco houses 15 school districts, 70 elementary schools attended by students from more than 80 different ethnicities. These children need the hope of Christ every day of the year, and CEF remains committed to reaching them where they are.

Summer is one of CEF’s busiest and most exciting times of year. This year through 5-day

clubs, VBS, and soccer clinics, the Good News of Jesus Christ was faithfully shared with

children throughout Delaware County. As they transition into the fall, CEF’s mission

continues. In the coming months, they look forward to beginning and strengthening Good

News Clubs, training new volunteers through “Teaching Children Effectively” level 1 course, partnering with additional churches and expanding opportunities to reach even more boys and girls with the Gospel.

There are many ways that you can get involved with CEF. Maybe you can dedicate a couple hours/week to serve in a Good News Club. Perhaps, consider serving on the Board. If you cannot give any hours, consider supporting CEF financially, or by purchasing snacks for the Good News Clubs. Finally, when you buy “Third Horse Coffee” on its website, enter “CEF” in the fundraising box. CEF will receive a portion of the sales.

UPCOMING EVENTS:

  • “Walk-a-thon 2026” – Saturday, October 17, at Ridley Creek State Park
  • “Parking Lot Prayers” – coming this Fall
  • “Teaching Children Effectively” – 30 hour college level course that equips individuals to become effective teachers of children. 5 Saturdays, beginning in October through November. To be held at Spruce Street Baptist Church.** Deadline to register is September 11.

PRAISES & PRAYER REQUESTS:

  • Praise for all the children who participated in CEF’s summer ministries.
  • Pray that the seeds planted in their hearts will take root, that families will be impacted, and that God will continue to open doors for His Word to be proclaimed.
  • Pray for wisdom, strength, and additional workers as they prepare for another exciting season of ministry.

Service of Surrender

Aug 29, 6:30pm

We are entering late summer, a time of year full of transitions: little ones starting pre-K or Kindergarten for the first time, kids leveling up to a new grade or a new school, young adults heading into college, families feeling the emptiness of their nest. Along with the milestones that children's growth represents, many life events like loss of health, job loss, or loss of loved ones offer us ample opportunities to deepen our trust in Jesus. But how do we do that? How do we 'just trust'?
And: How do we support each other during this season?
On Saturday, Aug 29, we will hold a Service of Surrender, a dedicated time for us to surrender our hearts, circumstances, and futures to the Lord. There will be music, art, and drama. We will pray for each other: for students and families, teachers and administrators, for the community.
Please pray for this service: for the leaders, for those inviting others, and for the Lord to work in those He will call to attend. May He break down our defenses and use us all for His glory and our good!
