Last Call for Camping Trip & Other Updates

Thu, 08 Oct 2026 19:19:40 GMT

Good Afternoon Parents!

I hope that this e-mail finds you well, enjoying this spectacular weather.

I have a quick reminder for you to read if you attend on Sunday mornings: children in elementary school and younger should be supervised by parents in the gym after our Sunday service. Parents should head down to the gym with their children as soon as the service is done and have their conversations there so that their children are not left unsupervised. I am "off the clock" during that time so that I am able to connect with other congregation members as well and I can't be expected to supervise your children or step in when different situations arise. We have a new craft, coloring books, Legos, gaga ball, and other sports equipment set out every week to make it a fun (but safe) time for all ages, and to give you the opportunity to talk to others while your children play. Also, please remind your children to only run around or play with the sports equipment on the appropriate side of the gym and redirect them if/when they forget.

Here's important things you can find in this e-mail:

Victory Valley Family Event!

Oct 24 @ 4:00-7:00

We highly recommend heading out to Victory Valley Camp on October 24th from 4:00-7:00 for their free "Bunk or Treat" family event. They'll have free hayrides, zip line pumpkin chunkin (how amazing is that!?), s'mores, crafts and other activities. It's about an hour away, but they make the trip worth it! Plus, it's a great opportunity for your family to check out this incredible camp that our BFC denomination has the great privilege of owning.

Questions? Reach out to Rachel Kessler.

"Camping" Trip - Grades 3-5

Oct 16, 6pm - Oct 17, 11am

What will we be doing? We will have a fun night around the campfire and playing in the playground (gaga, 9-square, etc.) When it gets darker, we'll sing around the campfire and hear an encouraging testimony. Plus we have to make s'mores. The next morning we will have breakfast and play games at the camp until students are picked up.

Where will we sleep? We will sleep in the dorm (Beacon Hall) which has bunk beds and bathrooms within the same building.

Where is drop off/pick up? Students should be dropped off and picked up directly at the camp. Feel free to carpool or let me know if this is a hardship and I can try to help arrange transportation.

Can my child go up late on Friday night or get picked up early? YES! We will be at the camp the entire time, so feel free to drop off late or pick up early. Just let me know beforehand so that we can be prepared.

How much does the FULL weekend cost? The cost of the retreat is $5 per student, if you are able.

Is there dinner on Friday night? YES! We will be roasting hot dogs and other fun foods around the fire as kids arrive.

Faith Explorers (Grades K-5)

Starting September 16!

Students in Grades K-5 dig deep into God's word, discovering their faith along the way.

New this year: Though parent supervision is needed, kids are always welcome to play in the gym 30 minutes before and after our programs.

Are you attending for the first time this year or inviting someone to come along? Make sure that every child/teen has had this info form filled out! Most children who regularly attend already have it filled out.

What is being taught this year?

This year, your child will discover the incredible story of God’s Kingdom—how God created a perfect world, how sin broke what He had made, and how God God is rebuilding His kingdom today.

We’ll journey through the stories of Joshua and David before turning our focus to Jesus, learning what He taught about the Kingdom of God and how His life, death, and resurrection have secured an eternal Kingdom for all who follow Him.

Most importantly, students won’t just learn about God’s story—they’ll discover that they have a place in it! They’ll be challenged to follow Jesus, live as citizens of God’s Kingdom, and join His mission to advance His Kingdom in the world around them.

EVENING ROAD WORK WARNING!

We just learned that there will now be roadwork starting at 7pm each weeknight. This means that drop off should still be simple, but pick-up may be more challenging on Wednesday nights. As of now, the roadwork is happening between Strath Haven High School and Springhaven Club.

If travelling from the Brookhaven/Garden City area, travel through the back neighborhood and use the back entrance to the church.
If travelling from Media, you will want to either use Brookhaven Rd to enter through the back neighborhood, or use 320 to Providence Rd. When turning onto Providence Rd from 320, the right turning lane may be completely blocked, however, the center lanes are open so you are still able to make a sharp right turn.
If travelling from Chester/Bullens Ln, you should not have any issues arriving at church. When you turn left onto Provident Rd (off of Providence Ave/320) the center lanes should be clear and notify that St. John's is still accessible, which means that we are accessible from that direction as well!

Family Fun Fest & Chili Cook-Off

Oct 3 @ 1:00-4:00

Join us for this completely FREE event to help bring the community together and create lasting memories. Sample homemade chili, listen to live music, snack on fun fair foods and let your kids play all day! Yes, absolutely everything we offer has already been paid for and is completely free for you to enjoy.

Sign up to help out with the event and/or to compete in our Chili Cook-Off HERE. (All contestants can get reimbursed for the cost of their chili.)

Activities Include: Obstacle Course, Laser Tag, Bounce House, Dunk Tank, Train Rides, Speed Pitch Booth, Carnival Games, Crafts & MORE!

What is being taught this year?

This year students in grades 1-6 are actually learning the same curriculum. Truth78 has a curriculum called "Faithful to All His Promises" which the older kids have used for many, many years. They recently updated the curriculum so that it is better suited for younger students. So to make sure that all students will get to experience this curriculum once, both groups will work through their age appropriate material at the same time, building a foundation of God's Promises that they can firmly stand on throughout their lives.

Both the 2s&3s and Pre-K/K group work through different important topics each month, learning important Bible stories along the way. They cover themes like loving God, obeying God, trusting God, forgiving others and thankfulness.

Grace Kids - Parent Meeting Recap & Fall Reminders

Thu, 27 Aug 2026 15:27:55 GMT

Good Morning Parents!

I don't normally send out this many e-mails, but wanted to make sure that every parent who wasn't able to attend one of the info meetings gets all of that important information. You will find that video below.

Remember, there are two more weeks without class for grades 1-6. Those classes will restart on September 13th. Everyone will "graduate" to the next grade level (the grade they're now in this school year) and join the appropriate classes.

I will be away for the next two weeks on vacation, but plan to do some work on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend. I'll do my best to answer e-mails then.

Grace and Peace,

Fuzzy

Grace Kids - New & Improved E-mail!

Sat, 15 Aug 2026 13:49:01 GMT

Welcome to the NEW (and hopefully improved) Grace Kids E-mail!

These e-mails are specifically designed to keep every parent of kids in 5th grade and below informed on what's happening in children's ministry at Grace Church. The content here is often different than what you'll find in the church wide E-News and these updates get sent out less frequently (1-2 times a month).

If you do not want to receive these e-mails, simply reply to this e-mail and let me know. DO NOT UNSUBSCRIBE unless you do not want to receive any e-mails from Grace Church in the future.

Great news! You'll be able to access these e-mails directly from our new website this fall. Gone are the days of panicking as you frantically search through old e-mails wondering if you missed a registration deadline. The website will automatically update with every new e-mail that is sent!
