Ryan Jones is the director for InterVarsity in NorthEast PA which serves Lackawanna College, Keystone College, Penn State Scranton, Marywood University, and University of Scranton.

Staff and student leaders are preparing to welcome new and returning students to campus. Marywood, Penn State, and Keystone started on August 24. Scranton and Lackawanna start on August 31. Will you pray for the following:

  • Pray for us to meet students who need community and are open to Gospel conversations.
  • Pray for student leaders that they can stay rooted in their relationship with God and find rest in the midst of a busy season.
  • Pray for the removal of any barriers preventing students from attending our Bible studies and events.
  • Pray for students who are anxious and have fears around making new friends and opening up to others

In addition, we need help gathering more outreach supplies. If you'd like to contribute you go to the following Amazon Registry Link.
Thank you for your on-going partnership and prayer to reach students with the Gospel!

Joshua Stroh, InterVarsity Staff at Widener, Ursinus and Villanova

Josh Stroh serves as InterVarsity Staff at Widener, Ursinus and Villanova. He is in. the process of working with student leaders to plan for the year ahead. The next few weeks will be busy with a variety of New Student Outreach events on each campus.

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for the leaders on each campus. The Widener leadership team met this past weekend at Grace to plan out the coming semester*
  • Pray for New Student Outreach, that they would make contact with many students, and that God would draw out those He is working in.
  • Pray for students who are seeking community to find it in the campus Christian fellowships, and that those relationships would lead to the Gospel being made clear
  • Pray for those who do not know the Lord to come to know Him, and those that do to grow deep roots in Him and His Word this year
  • Pray for Widener as they also reach out in special ways to the athletes on campus, as well as the nurses on campus.
  • Pray for Josh for strength and wisdom as he leads

*Note from Josh Stroh this morning: I wanted to thank Grace Church for hosting us this weekend. It was an amazing retreat that has prepared our students to be good Kingdom stewards. Your hospitality and partnership continued to be pivotal for us as we minister to students. I can not thank you enough. God bless Grace Church.

Sincerely,

Joshua Stroh

Gabe Sauvé

Intern with The Navigators at Belmont University

Gabe is serving for this school year as an intern with the Navigators. This past week he served as an Orientation Leader at Belmont University, as well as doing New Student Outreach with the Navigators. Orientation is an amazing way to kick off the year of ministry! It is an opportunity to meet many new students who get to know Gabe as one who is there to help, and will be able to aid in their transition to college. He desires to connect them with other students, and ultimately share the gospel with many and disciple some of them as they grow in Christ.

Last week the college had a Church Fair. Pray for the students who learned about church and campus ministries as they decide 1) whether they want to go to church or get plugged into a campus ministry and/or 2) where they will go to church or invest on campus and 3) whom they will spend their first semester surrounded by. This week is the single greatest opportunity to introduce new students to The Navigators at Belmont.

Pray for God to connect Gabe with the right guys, at the right time, and that he would disciple them with wisdom from the Spirit as they walk through their first year of college together.

Service of Surrender

Aug 29, 6:30pm

We are entering late summer, a time of year full of transitions: little ones starting pre-K or Kindergarten for the first time, kids leveling up to a new grade or a new school, young adults heading into college, families feeling the emptiness of their nest. Along with the milestones that children's growth represents, many life events like loss of health, job loss, or loss of loved ones offer us ample opportunities to deepen our trust in Jesus. But how do we do that? How do we 'just trust'?
And: How do we support each other during this season?
On Saturday, Aug 29, we will hold a Service of Surrender, a dedicated time for us to surrender our hearts, circumstances, and futures to the Lord. There will be music, art, and drama. We will pray for each other: for students and families, teachers and administrators, for the community.
Please pray for this service: for the leaders, for those inviting others, and for the Lord to work in those He will call to attend. May He break down our defenses and use us all for His glory and our good!
